Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

The Jetta sedan is available in 5 different trim levels. As well as the newly featured Jetta TDI clean diesel. The Jetta is also available in its wagon form called by Volkswagen the Jetta SportWagen. All of the specifications and options are nearly the same, the SportWagen just features a different body style of course. There is one standout trim level of the Jetta though, the Wolfsburg edition which features turbocharged engine.

Powertrains and Performance

The standard engine for the Jetta features a 2.5 liter 5 cylinder engine rated at 170 horsepower and 177 lb ft of torque. With this engine the Jetta went from 0 to 60 mph in 8.6 seconds. Fuel economy ratings have the Jetta at 21 mpg city and 29 mpg highway.

For the Wolfsburg edition and SportWagen, they both get the turbocharged 2.0 liter engine that is rated at 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. Both of the turbocharged engines bolt from 0 to 60 mph in about 7 seconds

The TDI has 2.0 liter turbo diesel engine that has 140 horsepower and 236 lb ft of torque. The fuel ratings get even better for the TDI Jetta, they are estimated at 30 mpg city and a stunning 41 mpg highway.


Standard safety equipment includes antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags. Rear side airbags are optional on all Jettas. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the Jetta sedan and Sportwagen four out of five stars for frontal collision protection, and a perfect five stars for side protection. In Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crash tests, the Jetta sedan received the highest rating of “Good” for frontal offset and side crash protection.

Interior Design and Special Features

The new Jetta is very spacious and fits all of its passengers very comfortably. Even though the exterior of the Jetta is very appealing in all of its different trim level, it’s the interior that really sets it apart. The instrument panels light up with blue LEDs.
